Niger Will Start a Large-scale Coal Power Project

Niger's President Mahamadou Issoufou announced to start the construction of a new large-size coal power project. The project is located in Salkadamna coal mining area, with total generating capacity of 600 megawatts (mw), and project cost about $1.475 billion, or 740 billion CFA francs , all the funds will be provided by Source California Energy Services (SCES).
It is known that the following items of this project will be implemented, namely an open-pit coal mine will be built, one 600 mw coal-fired power plant will be built and the power transmission line to the main power consumption area of Niger will be erected.
