Japan Gasoline Co. Ltd (JGC) announced in Jakarta on Wednesday that it planned to develop a 1,000 megawatt coal-fired power plant in Sorong, West Papua.
JGC Group chairman emeritus Yoshihiro Shigehisa met Vice President Jusuf Kalla to discuss the group’s plan to invest in the country’s energy sector.
“We are currently preparing a number of investment projects in Indonesia’s power-supply sector to help create energy reserves for future generations,” Shigehisa said after the meeting at Kalla’s office as quoted by kompas.com.
In the first stage, he said, JGC would develop a power plant with a capacity of 50 megawatts.
