In general, the thermal relay with two- phase structure can be selected, but for the motor that has poorer balance of three phase voltage , is in severe  working conditions or is unattended, the thermal relay with three-phase  structure should be selected. For motor with delta connection, the thermal relay with open-phase protection shall be selected.
