Research on Design Technology of Electrostatic Precipitator

The wet-type tubulation electrostatic precipitator (ESP) consists of many sediment electrode tubes in rows. The section of sediment electrode tube is round, a metal spiral line is suspending in the centre of every tube. Both of them form a gas purification field. All spiral lines connect with the cathode of high-voltage direct current to form corona electrode, and the sediment electrode tube connects with the positive electrode as anode tube. 

During operation, after the alternation current is boosted by the transformer, it is transferred to high-voltage direct current by the commutator. After high-voltage direct current gets through the positive and negative electrodes of ESP, thus forming a powerful electric field between corona electrode wire and sediment electrode tube. When the carbon monoxide gas with dust particle gets through this electric field, most of the dust particles have negative charge with them. Under the function of electric field force, charged dust particles move towards the inwall of sediment electrode tube, and neutralizes with positive charge in tube wall, and rush away dust through the water film inside sediment electrode tube, which makes carbon monoxide gas purified.

The sediment electrode tube devices are the key to guarantee the normal operation of ESP. It consists of sediment electrode cap, sediment electrode tube, tube nest and electrode tube adjustment mechanism, etc. In installation, the sediment electrode cap is inserted into electrode tube, and fixed to tube nest after being cushioned with soft rubber gasket. Adjust surfaces on all sediment electrode caps and make them in the same height, in order to guarantee that overflowed water can flow to inwall of every sediment electrode tube at the same time. Usually, all of the ESP of wet-type tubulation adopts overflow water to wash away dust, but because of deviation in manufacture and installation, water film in the inwall of sediment electrode tube is not easy to be distributed evenly. The water flow in parts of areas is too large, which causes spray to splash and produces short circuit discharge phenomenon, and the inwall of some other tubes may have problems such as cutoff, dry tube wall because of insufficient water flow.

In order to avoid the occurrence of these situations, we make two-layer tube nest on the equipment shell, and make it form a closed water tank with shell, which can not only fix sediment electrode cap and polar tube, but also press washing water in water tank from one circle of tangential holes opened on sediment electrode tube into sediment electrode tube, and insulation ladder forms a layer of water film flowing vertically which is attached to inwall of electrode tube. This kind of water film is distributed evenly, with certain impact force, and can make the inwall of tube keep even and wet even reaching to the bottom of tube. We shall select steel tube carefully before making sediment electrode tube, require that wall shall be round and smooth, getting rid of those tubes in inwall which have defects such as stripe, sags and crests, and burr. During manufacturing, the wall shall be treated by sandblasting, and its length and roundness shall be controlled. During manufacturing of the sediment electrode tube, the defects that will affect evenly water flowing shall be reduced as possible. The adjusting mechanism of electrode tube is located at the lower end of sediment electrode tube, used for adjusting the verticality of tube. It can make the deviation of sediment electrode tube verticality less than specified value, only by rotating the bolt in this mechanism, simple and practical. The cathode suspending devices consist of the 4 suspenders connected to insulation box, upper and lower location frames, metal spiral corona electrode wire and heavy punch. 

The function of cathode suspending devices is to connect corona electrode wire into an electric conductor by suspender and frame, adjust corona electrode wire by frame, making it always in the central position of sediment electrode tube. Suspend heavy punch under corona electrode wire, in order to guarantee that the corona electrode wire is vertical but not curved and remains stable in flowing gas. The corona electrode wire is one of important components of electric precipitator. The size and shape directly affects the dust elimination efficiency of the ESP, and its safe operation also determines the reliability of equipment. We select and use steel twisted wire, because of its characteristics such as being easy to make, being difficult to break off, homogeneous discharge, low boundary voltage, good effect under the situation with slow airflow velocity in equipment. The design of cathode suspending device is easy to install, change and adjust corona electrode wire, and in stable and reliable operation.
