Principles of Lashing Wire Welding of Steam Turbine Blade

While the lashing wire welding of the blade, the principle shall be based: On the premise that the lashing wire and blade are not melted and not overheated, braze them together in order to ensure the connection part to have enough strength.

The essence of brazing is low melting point alloy (brazing filler metal), so under the Ac1 temperature of blades and lashing material and without destroying the metallographic structure  of the base metal. brazing  them together. The materials 303 can be selected, with flux 303.

While brazing, pay attention to the following points:

1. The surplus oxygen in oxidized flame easily generate chrome oxide at high temperature, affecting the connection of blade and lashing wire, so the neutral flame or micro carbonizing flame shall be selected.

2. The weldment and brazing filler metal both must be burnished by sand paper before welding, then must be swabbed with carbon tetrachloride, they shall be free of oil dirt etc.. 

3. The brazing filler metal  shall be ensured to infiltrate to the gap of lashing wire hole and lashing wire, forming a good brazing joint.

4. Small size of nozzle shall be selected and the flame shall be fine to concentrate the heat, thus ensuring the base metal not to be overheated, and quickly finishing the brazing work.
