Impulse Starting and Raising Speed Process for Cold Start of Model C12-4.90/0.981 Steam Turbine

1. After the impulse starting order is received, the impulse starting shall be recorded. Close the emergency trip throttle and axial displacement breaker to establish safe oil pressure. Anticlockwise rotate the hand wheel of the priming valve(Fully open the high pressure and low pressure adjusting steam valve).

2. Open the impulse starting of main throttle valve, when the rotating speed exceeds 18r/min. the turning gear shall automatically trip. Then stop the motor for the turning gear, lock the handle( the turning gear can also be stopped before impulse starting).

3. When the rotator is impulse started, its speed will rise quickly, at this moment, the main throttle valve hand wheel shall be closed. Without flow of steam and under low rotating speed, the front and back gland sealing and the interior of the unit are checked for sound detection , at this moment, it is easy to find whether there is problem like friction.

4. If there is no abnormality after checking, then slowly open the main throttle valve to keep the rotating speed of the steam turbine at 400r/min below, then monitor the flow passage of steam turbine, gland sealing, main oil pump, each bearing and the rotating parts of the electric generator to confirm there are no stridulation and abnormal noise. Warm up and check the steam turbine for 5min.(If the steam turbine is newly installed or overhauled, the time for warming up may be properly prolonged at the first start). The contents to be checked during warming up are whether the noise from each part of the unit, vibration and temperature-rise of each bearing, the thermal expansion of each part, axial displacement, exhaust steam temperature, oil temperature, oil pressure and each meter are normal or not. 

During speed raising, it is required to adjust the gland sealing pressure and hot well water level, the vacuum shall be maintained at -0.05-0.07MPa. 

5. After 400r/min warming-up is finished and overall checking is normal, turn up the main throttle valve to increase the speed from 100r/min to 800r/min, and warm up for 20 minutes.

6. After 800r/min warming-up is finished and overall checking is normal, keep the outlet oil temperature of oil cooler at 35-40°and keep the temperature difference not exceed 50℃, increase the speed from 100r/min to 1200r/min, and warm up for 30mintues ( the time may be determined according to cylinder wall temperature and thermal expansion )。

7. After 1200r/min warming up is finished and the checking is normal, turn up the main throttle valve, pass the critical speed of rotation (1683r/min) at 100r/min-150r/min, at this moment, the vibration shall not exceed 0.15mm. When the speed of rotation reaches 2500r/min, the time of warming up shall be 10 minutes. 

8. After 2500r/min warming-up is finished, turn up the main throttle valve to make the speed of rotation rise from 300r/min to 2895r/min, at this moment, the adjustor shall be used to turn down the adjusting steam valve and maintain no-load operation. When the oil pressure rises to 0.835MPa, the high-pressure oil pump shall be automatically stopped, otherwise it shall be manually stopped. Gradually fully open the main throttle valve, after the opening of main throttle valve reaches to 90% of full stroke, close backward for half-turn, then use synchronizer to rise 3000r/min.

9. Record full speed time, and at this moment, it is required to ensure that: 

(1)The oil pressure increase of main oil pump is 0.98 Mpa(the inlet oil pressure of main oil pump is required to be 0.098Mpa and the outlet oil pressure to be 1.078Mpa ).        

(2)Lubrication oil pressure is 0.0785-0.118MPa .

(3)Primary pulse oil pressure is 0.392MPa. 

(4)At this moment the secondary pulse oil pressure is not established.

(5)After full speed, the unit is fully and systematically inspected, and according to requirement, the related test is conducted(such as overspeed and vacuum tightness inspection etc.)
