Function of Condensate Pump

The condensate pump consists of the following parts: pump cylinder body, working portion, outflow portion and thrust devices.

The pump cylinder is a round cylinder portion rolled and welded with high-quality carbon steel plate. One side of it is equipped with suction flange; the pump cylinder body is used to form pressure chamber of outer layer of double-deck shell pump. In normal working, the pressure chamber is in negative pressure status.

The working portion consists of pump rotors formed by multi-stage impellers arranged in the same direction and the blower inlet casing forming diversion space in its periphery.

The pump rotor consists of impeller, pump shaft, key, axle sleeve, etc.

The impeller is a core component converting energy in prime motor into liquid energy to be transmitted by pump. The pump shaft not only acts as the carrier of impeller, but also transmits the complete load of rotor. The function of blower inlet casing is to lead the liquid flowing from impeller and then evenly enters into the next level of impeller, with minimum loss. The connection of blower inlet casing is seam allowance location, which is finally screwed down with bolt.

Outflow portion:

It consists of the connecting pipe and pump base and so on; the transmission shaft of pump passes through from the center of this part; the liquid flowing from the working portion of the pump horizontally enters into the pressure piping outside the pump through this part. The pump base is provided with seal body, pressure–relief hole and steam-bleeding hole. The pressure-relief hole is used to reduce the pressure in shaft seal cavity to the lowest; the steam-bleeding hole is used to exhaust the gas in pump cylinder to the condenser timely.

The part of thrust devices:

The thrust devices consist of thrust bearing, bearing body and adjusting nut etc.. The axial force produced by the pump is offset by 95% by the balancing drum. The other residuary axial force is supported by thrust bearing. If axial force is supported by the motor,  this part is not available.

Bearing :

Water lubrication leading bearing are equipped at many positions of the pump in order to bear the radial force of pump rotor. The first is in the central bearing pedestal, the second is in the seal body, and the others are in the working portion.

Shaft seal:

The condensate pump is in high vacuum in standby application. Therefore, it is very necessary for condensate pump to have reliable shaft- seal. The shaft seal of condensate pump can be gland  packing or mechanical seal. In addition, the condensation water shall be used as seal cooling water. If other sources of water are used for sealing, they will pollute condensate water, so the condensate water is used as seal water.

Coupler:

The pump shaft  and transmission shaft are connected by the cutting sleeve and fixing sleeve; the transmission shaft and motor shaft are  connected by elastic membrane coupler or rigid coupler.
