Collecting Methods for Water Samples (GB -- 6907---2005)

1. The sample container:

(1) Hard glass mouth-ground bottle: It is one of the commonly used water containers, but it is not proper to store the water sample for determining the components of trace silicon, sodium, potassium and boron etc..

(2) Polytene (PE) bottle: PE bottle is the water container mostly used. , but it is not proper to store the water for determining the components of heavy metal, iron, copper and, organic. etc..

(3) Specific water sample container:  Specific sample container is required for determining some specific components, such as the determining to the dissolved oxygen and the oil content, so the provisions of the standard shall be followed, Such as dissolved oxygen, determination of oil content and so on. 2. Collection method for water samples:

(1) In order to get a real test result, the sampling shall be correct, the samples taken shall representative. The sampling locations and sampling methods must be accurate and reliable.

(2) The sampling bottle shall be indicated with the bottle code and the water sample name. The specified sampling bottle is used for sampling. Various kinds of sampling bottles cannot substitute each other, they must be kept clean.

(3) While sampling, attention must be paid. For any high-pressure sampling, the primary valve shall be opened by the stoker personnel. While the valve opening is adjusted, the steam emission shall be avoided for fear of scalding.

(4) The boiler water and steam shall often be drained, the flow rate shall be maintained at between 0.5 ~ 1.0 L/min. If the flow rate is too small, the sampling valve shall be turned up to impulse it, only after the water sample is clear, can the sample be collected. Sampling of steam and boiler water: If the cooling water is enough, the samples of steam and boiler water shall be taken the same time, otherwise they shall be taken one by one.

(5) While sampling, the cooling water valve shall be opened firstly, then slowly open the sampling valve, firstly turn up the sample valve then turn down it to keep a certain flow rate and to keep the temperature of sample at 30 ° С ~ 40 ° C.

(6)The water samples for total analysis shall not be less than 5 liter, the water sample for individual analysis shall not be less than 0.3 liter.

(7) Sampling operation: Flush the bottle with water sample for 3 ~ 5 times, after the water is clear, the bottle can be used for collecting and taking the samples. When taking the samples of the oxygen content of water supply and condensate water, insert the conduit into the bottom of the bottle to make the water sample overflow for more than three minutes. After removing the conduit, immediately cover the bottle tightly. If there are bubbles, take the sample again. After taking the samples, close the water sample valve and cool water valve. If the test results are suspicious, the samples shall be taken again.
