Indonesia to simplify investment rules on generation of electricity from waste

Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Monday ordered authorities to ease rules for investors wanting to invest in generation of electricity from waste, saying the government might offer subsidies.

The president made the remarks as the country strived to use more renewable energy in the future and ease dependency on fossil fuel, whose reserve has been dwindling, as source of energy.

President Widodo said the policy was aimed at boosting production of such energy and encouraging investors to act faster.
